Our Admissions Criteria
The school admits 120 students to Year 7 each September, following Birmingham LA’s Admission Policy.
Where there are more applications than places available at the school the following criteria will be used to determine which children will be allocated places:
Looked after children (in Public Care); who will be guaranteed a place at their nearest co-educational community school if it is not possible to meet any of their preferences.
Children with a brother already at the school who will still be in attendance at the time the sibling enters the school.
Children who live nearest to the school. Within each of these categories, priority is given to those who live nearest the school, calculated on basis of a straight-line measurement between home and school.
At the start of the academic year a number of open day and evening sessions are arranged for prospective parents and students to visit the school. Parents are always welcome to visit the school during the working day through prior arrangement.
In the summer term prospective students are invited to the school to meet with staff and experience some lessons and activities as part of the structured induction programme.
Other year group admissions
The admissions’ policy for other year groups into Kings Heath Boys is that of the Local Authority (LA).
Allocation of places to the school is administered by the LA. Neither a student’s abilities nor his learning difficulties feature in the admission of a student, unless he has an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) which names this school as the one he should attend.
